Robot Arm

In this world of wild overindustrialization, every bit of automation counts. Robot arms are the wave of the future AND the past, and the Optimal Robotics Mk. II Utility Arm is no exception. I started the project with a VR sculpt in Adobe Medium, and then brought it into Cinema 4D + Octane for rigging and rendering.

The model features sleek, retrofuturistic styling, IK rigging, flashy lights, hydraulic rams, and grossly underprotected dynamic cables.

Some close-ups show off those sweet details.

I started the project with this VR sculpt.

I then rebuilt it all in Cinema 4D and gave it this cool little technical document look.

A paintover in Photoshop let me figure out the colorways and contrast.

The end result is refined complexity, with some wear and tear but ready to rock.
